This is a definite sport for the LastWorld

Competitive slalom/racing
I'm imagining big rings suspended from aerostats at different altitudes. The course would start at the top ship and you'd fly down passing through the rings on the way. Fastest time wins. Or, more dangerously, just an all out race!
Certainly,...
...although this is a given. Remember the Last world is this world too. Nothing exists outside of it.
heh,
True :D

Been working on some sketches of the city ships. I'll have to scan 'em and post them soon.
mmmmm
Sketches..Tasty :D
Did you read my last blog entery? I believe it was the last one of mine anyway. I was talking about an apparatus in out kitchen that powers the appliances we use, You see, it uses no electricity. If there is any electricity involved, it's only to generate heat, and the electricity will be generated by a dynamo within the actual appliance.
It starts out with the windmill atop the building. The windmill isn't generating electricity, instead it's using the movement caused by the wind to turn a shaft that goes into a box, either directly or indirectly, and then it winds a spring within that box. The energy that is stored within that spring is then used to give motion to appliances in the kitchen and throughout the house. I believe this has the ability to power a refrigerator, because all you require on a refrigerator is a vaccume, no? Well I have seen hand winding vaccumes, and this can improvise for a hand wound one. But as for the oven and stove, I think that is best heated with some form of fuel. Most likely a biofuel.
This is something I have interest in concepting via pictures and diagrams. Showing how motion can be transfered into heat, showing how this one rather large aparatus can power multiple appliances and devices.

Refrigeration
I think you're right about refrigeration although I'm not sure that refrigerators aren't so energy hungry as to make the system impractical. How often would you replace the coil springs? I think you'd lose a lot of energy to friction in a system like this v's storing electricity in batteries. It is interesting to see how a wound spring is indeed a battery. I guess you'd have more user serviceable parts in the spring system. Springs powering dynamos perhaps?
(O_o)
As much fun as that looks like, I can't see too many people surviving similar attempts. It's a great sport for natural selection. Most likely it would be a game for skyborne children or adults.

Ah yes
This is true. I could definitley imagine skyborne enjoying this.
